休士頓華人業餘西畫社自從於一九九四年成立以來，幾乎每年舉辦二次畫展。本次二零零七年秋季畫展共有四十八位會員提供一百一十六幅作品供大家鑑賞。其中大部份是最近半年來的畫作，約有半數作品是會員們每週四在僑教中心舉行的聚會習畫時完成的，每次聚會都有一位畫社老師在場指導，因此我們特別感謝這些老師們，趙文正、鄭可達、魏耀德、戴梅熹、和蘇韶珍的諄諄教誨。作品的主題多款，其中以風景為最多，亦不乏人物和動物描畫。畫材也是各式各樣皆有，包括鉛筆、炭筆、色筆、水彩、粉彩、膠彩、及油彩。顧名思義，本社會員絕大多數是業餘的繪畫愛好者，期望專業水準未免苛求，我門的每一位會員都在精益求精、努力學習，希望大家在觀賞之餘，也給我們一些鞭策和鼓勵。 

此次畫展是在恆豐銀行總行頂樓十二樓舉行，時逢該行新厦落成，我們有幸參與慶祝新厦落成和喬遷之喜。更難能可貴的是恆豐銀行不僅提供場地給我們展覽作品，並且將針對我們的部份會員在畫展期間參展作品義賣，提供相對基金共同捐獻給慈善機構。 

雖然畫展是會員們最重視的活動，但是許多會員也熱心參加其他畫社舉辦的活動，諸如郊遊、參觀美術館、聽講、觀摩名家示範、欣賞藝術電影等等。同時不少會員也不義賣作品，以提供慈善捐款之用。詳細情形請上西畫社網站www.hcapc.com 閱覽，謝謝。          

The Houston Chinese Amateur Painting Club (HCAPC) has presented two art shows annually in each of the last 10 years of its 13 year history. This 2007 fall fine arts exhibition features 116 pieces of art by 48 of our members for your enjoyment. Most of the displayed artworks were completed during our weekly classes on Thursdays at the Chinese Culture Center, with guidance from our HCAPC teachers.

This exhibition will be held on 12^th floor of American First National Bank, located at 9999 Bellaire Blvd.   We are honored to participate in the opening ceremony of the brand new building.  Some of our members are planning to donate the sales of their artworks to the charity organizations.  To this, the Bank is generously providing the funds to match the sales and donate them to the designated charity organizations.   

The subjects and used mediums are diverse, with 43 landscapes and scenic
beauties being the most common subject, portrait and animal paintings are also pretty common.  In addition to biannual fine arts exhibitions, our field trips, live demonstrations/lectures, art movies, and museum trips are among members' favorites.
